That Day
A shadow in a storm
A ghost in your memory
Never did I think this is where I'd be
Hoping you'd come back on your knees
What a fever dream
Cascading waves are my emotions
One day I miss you, the next I'm locked and loaded
For lingering in my head
For appearing out of thin air
Who made you the ruler?
You're the reason I bled
I sat by the water, crying to the shore
Desperate to gaze into those eyes again
But the sea told me there was so much more,
To live, to breath, to dream for
So I started walking and never looked back
I'm making moves, not playing chess
Games are for kids,
And your antics caused a mess
One day I'll drive away
Grateful for the memories made
And pleased you left me that day
That's right, I'm no longer afraid
